How big will my Borneo/ S.sumatran python get?

These serpents could attain a length of seven feet and 20 plus pounds. Feeding is the key to growth and most growth is attained in the first 3-5 years of life providing the animal is fed regularly...

Is there a difference between sexes?

Yes there is, males are often times smaller with less mass. I would recommend a male for someone wanting a pet due to the weight/size factor...

How do these snakes take to handling?

Very well when properly supported. They are a thick terrestrial snake that doesn't typically hang on so they can dropped ..Because of their inactivity they can be lap snakes and enjoyed during commercials...

Do they have any special requirements?

Yes, Because of their triangular shape, prominent backbone and size they need proper conditions for shedding. This is easily achieved by pouring water into the enclosure or hide box prior to shedding...

Why hasn't my snaked pooped?

Inactivity is the main reason. A large body cavity also plays part in the storage of wastes. I believe water quality and hydration also plays a part in this often asked question of concern. If the animal has pooped before it will likely poop again...

Why do you'll specialize in these snakes?

Because they are an ideal size to be macho yet not dangerous. They are extremely variable in both colors and patterns. Their relatively unknown to the general public and most are as placid and easy going as any python out there. Our personal goal is to reduce the sales of the giant species and put these more appropriate sized serpents out there...

How do the three species differ?

The now 3 species are kissing cousins and differ in locality, color, scalation and Brain matter. The red bloods(brongasmai) are generally higher strung than the other two..Theres also a small size difference between the three with the blacks being thought to be the smallest of them...

Will they interbreed?

Yes they will and have, Be careful when purchasing as there are mutts in the market place. Ask questions....

How long can they live?

As with other python species, proper husbandry should allow the animals to live near 30 years...

Are there Morphs of these species ?

Yes, the borneo's have a dilute gene which goes by the names,Ultra briet, latte and ghost..This gene mutes/dilutes the normal coloration in the first generation..Breed it a second generation and it greatly affects the pattern as well..Animals have been produced that are near patternless. Currently this is a very perplexing gene and not known exactly how it passes..           There is a granite/marble morph which we first produced in 1995. This gene affects the lateral gold blotches and transforms them into a black and white speckled blotch..The dorsal pattern is often marbled but not always..Again there is confusion as to how this gene truly passes..There are several gene pools that are also prone to stripeing but none have been fixed to the state where stripeing is 100 % . Python Curtus, has one to date and is a T+ albino, otherwise locallity differences are seen in color types.

What is meant by dilute gene ?

It is a term I decided to use to describe the Ultra / latte / ghost gene..Its a word used in the horse industry to describe the palominos, buckskins and duns..
