WOW ! The 2009 hatch has been finished here and has left us in amazement
118 babies from 146 eggs in 8 clutches, hatch rates from 100 % to less than 50 % ,105 brietensteini and 13 brongasmai.. Average, above average and exceptional offsping produced this year and the prices reflect that. We hatched T+ albino Brongasmai, ultra briet borneos, blonde borneos(het ultra) granites (het ultra) and another dilute brietensteini which more than likely originates from one of the already established dilute genes.
We are working with 7 believed to be unrelated bloodines of the Borneos and will continue to aquire more. Our goal is to produce an array of pattern and color types. We will be obtaining additional animals from other breeders and mixing or matching as we go. Although it will take time, money and work our goal is to be the one you think of when it comes to these species. For 2010 we hope to add 2 more girls to our line up. One of these would be an outbred dilute carrier..Currently 7-21-09 they are the right age but not up to size due to a rodent dry spell..We'll see, We are getting a slow start with P Curtus and won't likely produce them until 2011 but they'll be nice ones. Our 2 males were purchased as a pair and turned out to be both males..Our females from 2007 were produced by Ryan at the Blood cell and are nice and dark.
Borneo python genetics are currently in their "in fancy" stage, not yet fixed in type or not known as to how it passes.. There are legitimate mutations, the problem is that the same mutation may go by numerous names given by any particular breeder. To our limited knowledge there is two (2) mutations, one which dilutes/diffuses the normal color/pattern and it goes by three (3) names Ultrabriet, ghost and latte..When this mutation is inbred, dilute X dilute there is even a greater degree of dilution and the resulting animals may be near patternless..The genetics of this mutation is still a mystery but that makes it all the more interesting..The second (2nd) mutation goes by two names, granite and marble with marble being most widely used..This mutation affects the lateral gold blotches, it replaces them with what looks to be newspaper print or speckles of black and white..Several feel that there is two (2) mutations here but we suspect the difference is the founder stock..For those not aware we where the first (1st) to produce this mutation in 1995 and again in 1996 from W/C stock.. We then exited the world of herptoculure in 1997 due to unseen circumstances..
2006 we met up with Eugene,Cindy Bissette and it started all over again.. We knew that the species we were choosing where underdogs in the python world but they are a favorite of ours and thats what counts..Now to set out and have others realize what magnificent creatures these are..We're starting with a nice group of animals purchased from different individuals and hopefully bloodlines.
